Crows encircling Kevin
I've looked into Joyce's novel, Wizard of the Crow. It is still in hardcover until August 14th. However, you can order it through Amazon.ca for $25.20 (37% off) so I vote that we keep it in for the time being. It's under our book cost limit by $5 still. It's receiving some great reviews as well. Thoughts?
As well, it appears that Graham and Denise both voted for We Need to Talk about Kevin, by Lionel Shriver, which means that we have a winner. This book will be read for the October meeting.

As long as it's affordable for all, I'm fine with leaving things as is. Thanks for looking into this, Rachel :)
Is it really 900 pages.....?
ha ha ha.
Not quite 900 pages, the hard cover version is a slightly-less-voluminous 784 pages.
Whoo. I'm willing to give it a whirl. This meeting is taking place in the summer, and I love to sit outside in the sun reading.
Another option would be to move Denise's book from October to August, and put Joyce's book in November giving us two months to read it. This means that we wouldn't have a book to read for October. Maybe in October we could do a movie night or something.
that's cool - got most of the books this year for Christmas so it won't kill me to buy one for myself!
I like the idea of skipping a month for the longer one. Since it is about twice the length of the books we normally read, that would be a good idea.
I'll e-mail all next week about the next meeting. It will be at our place, so I'll send directions to those of you who aren't familiar.

What was the name of the new book that we decided to switch Joyce's to?
Sooo forgetful!
J
Hey Jenn,
It's called, "Orphan Love". Here's a link: http://www.keyporter.com/book_detail.aspx?BookISBN=1552638642
I don't think we've quite made the decision to switch to this book yet. I believe the plan is to re-review the two books (Wizard of the Crow and Orphan Love) at the next meeting and make a decision then.
Sounds good. Thanks Joyce.

i thought that we had decided to go ahead with the other book. either way, joyce, why don't you post a synopsis of "Orphan Love" on the blog. there's already one of "Wizard of the Crow" on here from my book selection meeting post.
